Fit Notes
Our footwear are built on larger-than-standard lasts to allow for thick socks. If you are between sizes or wearing standard socks, we recommend sizing down one UK size from your normal shoe size.

Understanding your fit

Each Skellerup boot is handcrafted on a carefully designed last, shaping how the foot is supported and how the boot moves with you. The right fit reduces fatigue, improves stability, and ensures long‑lasting comfort where it counts.

Fit tips

  • Your heel should lift no more than 1cm when walking - this will reduce as the boot breaks in
  • Try boots on in the afternoon when feet are at their largest
  • Wear the socks you'll typically use with the boots when trying them on
  • Walk around for at least 5 minutes to assess comfort
  • If you have wide feet, consider sizing up or look for our wide fit options

Between sizes?

Skellerup footwear is designed with a generous fit. Depending on how you like your gumboots to feel, we recommend sizing down one to two sizes from your usual UK size. For the most accurate fit, we always suggest trying boots on in person. Visit your local Skellerup stockist to find the fit that feels right for you.

Gumboot care

Choosing the right gumboot

Skellerup gumboots are designed for a range of environments and activities, so choosing the right boot starts with understanding how you’ll use it. Factors such as lining, boot height, and outsole all play a role in comfort, protection, and performance, helping you select the pair best suited to your day.

4x4

Built for durability, 4×4 Power and Marathon feature extra rubber protection over high-wear areas like the instep and heel. A hard-wearing treaded sole stands up to tough conditions, while reinforced rubber in key areas, like where a gear shifter rubs, helps extend lifespan. Perfect for frequent wear and demanding work.
